Mother Widow

Mother Widow was a young girl named Coraline Jones, who became a monstrous creature after being tormented by a being named Other Mother.

Backstory

She was once a girl who wasn’t sure about moving to her new home until she found a small door that was bricked off.

The door led to a magical world unlike Coraline's, in which everyone seemed like a better version of their real-world counterparts, except they had buttons sewed into their eyes. Coraline wanted to stay in this world forever until she felt like something was wrong, her neighbors warned her of a great danger coming to get her, and The Cat, who doesn't have buttons for eyes yet is still able to teleport between the other world and the real world, tells Coraline the same thing (The Cat is also only able to speak in The Other world). The final red flag being that her Other Mother wants to sew buttons into her eyes, in which she panics and after a few mishaps, she manages to get back into the real world.

The bad ending occurs when she didn't get rid of the key, and the door kept calling for her, she couldn't resist and came back to the other world. There she found the Other Mother, who was all alone and weak after her last visit.

Sometime after, Coraline did something that got rid of Other Mother for good, and when that happened, she collected the remained energy that the Other Mother had left behind before she was gone. The energy turned Coraline into something like the Other Mother, and she didn’t want to let go.

When she joined the BEF, many were spooked by her. But as time goes on, she finds herself being part of their lives.

Appearance

Mother Widow is a tall skinny girl with blue hair and two black buttons as her eyes. She wears black leggings and a blue star vest that looks similar to the jumper that the Other Mother gave her during her adventures.

She also has two legs (although it looks like she has four) and big metal hands.

Personality

Despite having been through traumatic experiences with the Other Mother, and having been transformed by her life force, Mother Widow still has the personality of Coraline Jones. She’s adventurous, imaginative, bold, and gets bored easily with the real world.

She often likes to explore new places, but is often disappointed when they don’t lead anywhere exciting.

She’s eager to meet new people, often fascinated with individual personalities. This trait could have been influenced by the Other Mother’s life force.

• There's a part of the fandom that considers a other bad end Coraline named Button Eyes Coraline where insted of her becaming a monstrous creatures she just got to have the button eyes.
