Demon King Tanjiro is Tanjiro Kamado (竈門かまど 炭たん治じ郎ろ ? Kamado Tanjiro ?), is the main protagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He was a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps, who joined to find a medicine to turn his sister, Nezuko Kamado, back into a human and to hunt and kill demons, and later swore to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji.
He is Tanjiro after being transformed into an Oni (Demon) by Muzan Kibutsuji (King of Demons) himself in an attempt to preserve his feelings, motivations and goals, Tanjiro then loses his humanity and fulfills Muzan Kibutsuji's dreams and desires
Backstory[]
After the Demon Slayers and Hashiras (The Elite of the Slayers) defeat the Upper Moons (The Elite of the Demons), they fight a great battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, the King of Demons himself, after a great and long battle, the Demon Slayers achieve a chance to hold Muzan until dawn (Muzan's only weakness is the Sun), Tanjiro, Sanemi Shinazugawa (Hashira of Wind) and Mitsuri Kanroji (Hashira of Love) try their best to hold Muzan against the wall of a building, Muzan creates a big jaw and tries to bite Tanjiro but Obanai receives the bite instead of Tanjiro and saves his life, Tanjiro no longer had the strength to use his techniques so he was trying to hold Muzan until dawn, the moment Muzan sees the Sun he starts to get very scared and then releases his Shockwave Energy Blast technique that knocks everyone down, except Tanjiro who, despite having his left arm ripped off, doesn't stop holding Muzan to the wall with his Nichirin sword, Giyu Tomioka arrives to help Tanjiro hold Muzan, with the strength Of the two, Tanjiro's blade turns red (a red blade slows down the Demons' regeneration), Muzan then spits out a lot of blood and starts to burn more and more, Muzan then realizes that in order for him not to die to the Sun, he needs to protect himself with a large mass of flesh and then expands its body and becomes a giant demonic baby, after which Muzan absorbs Tanjiro into his body and crawls towards a building to try to reach the shadow, the lower level Hunters try their best to prevent Muzan from reaching in the shadow, throwing shelves and running them over with cars, the Hashiras who still had the strength to attack used their breathing (fencing styles that use Total Concentration Breathing) to try to stop Muzan, even with the Hashiras' attacks Muzan still buries himself in the ground to try to escape but inside his body Tanjiro had not yet released his Nichirin sword and was holding it with all his strength (turning the blade red), making Muzan in the form of a giant baby cough a lot of blood and preventing him from continuing digging, and thus his body slowly begins to disintegrate and thus the King of Demons Muzan Kibutsuji dies disintegrated by the Sun, Tanjiro's body was on his knees lifeless, giyu Tomioka (the only Hashira who still had the strength to walk) begins to cry at the death of Tanjiro, the kakushi (a brigade of people responsible for different tasks related to providing support to the Demon Slayers) were helping the injured Slayers who were still alive.
Before Muzan died, Muzan reflected on his life and the way he was always being Threatened by the shadow of death, Muzan then decides to choose Tanjiro Kamado (who was still inside his almost disintegrated giant demonic baby body) as the child who would inherit his feelings, motivations and goals, even though Tanjiro is dead (after all, he suffered many fatal injuries during this battle) Muzan deduced that Tanjiro's cells were still alive and put all his blood into Tanjiro's body, Muzan said that Tanjiro would become the Strongest King among the Demons and that he used the same breaths as that "Monster" (referring to Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the strongest Demon Slayer of all and the only human who defeated Muzan), Muzan believed that Tanjiro would not die by the Sun, due to the fact that Tanjiro was Nezuko Kamado's brother (who, when she was a Demon, became immune in the Sun) and that Tanjiro would make Muzan's dream come true: Destroying all the Demon Slayers, Tanjiro (now Demon King Tanjiro) awakens and regenerates his lost arm and eye, also recovers from Muzan's poison (the poison that was in his eye), soon after Tanjiro attacks one of the kakushi that was nearby, Giyu realizes that Tanjiro has become a Demon and saves the Kakushi that Tanjiro attacks, Tanjiro was about to attack another Kakushi that was nearby but the Sun starts to burn him, Giyu takes the opportunity to call the Demon Slayers who still had the strength to fight and tells them that Tanjiro has become a Demon and says that they have to keep him in the Sun until he dies, so Giyu, crying, attacks Tanjiro and tries to keep him in the Sun until he dies, Giyu begs for Tanjiro to die like a human but something unexpected and terrible happens, Tanjiro becomes immune to the Sun and becomes a perfect creature, Tanjiro attacks Giyu and punches him, but Inosuke Hashibira (one of Tanjiro's closest friends) attacks Tanjiro and tries to talk to him, Inosuke says that the guy with the haori Half-and-Half (Giyu Tomioka) is their friend but Tanjiro doesn't care and attacks Inosuke, Zenitsu (one of Tanjiro's closest friends) can't believe that Tanjiro became a Demon and says that everyone is exhausted and tired, Inosuke doesn't have the courage to attack Tanjiro, Inosuke remembers his moments with his friends Tanjiro and Zenitsu and starts crying stating to himself that he can't attack Tanjiro, before Tanjiro attacks Inosuke, Nezuko Kamado (now Human) enters the front of the attack and holds Tanjiro, Giyu, Inosuke and Zenitsu are surprised by Nezuko's presence and worried by the fact that Tanjiro bit her shoulder, Nezuko crying apologizes for not being able to understand what was happening when she was a Demon and says that Tanjiro always carries everything on his shoulders, Nezuko begs him not to become a Demon and says that they will both go back home, Tanjiro then starts to scream very loudly and dig his claws into Nezuko's back, Zenitsu holds Tanjiro and says that Nezuko is back to being human and if he continues attacking Nezuko she will die, Inosuke punches Tanjiro several times telling him to return to normal and that Tanjiro was not that type of person but a sweet person to others, Tanjiro then uses Muzan's Shockwave Energy Blast technique and knocks down Inosuke, Zenitsu and Giyu but does not knock down Nezuko who continues hugging Tanjiro with all her strength, Tanjiro's appearance changes and now he has tentacles that look like a spine on his back , Tanjiro then attacks his friends and Nezuko continues begging Tanjiro to return to normal, Tanjiro tries to hit Zenitsu but Giyu saves him from the tentacles, Giyu then thinks he must kill Tanjiro before he kills someone but soon realizes that Tanjiro has no weakness (blades red and the Sun cannot affect him), Tanjiro then begins to create an Energy Sphere through his mouth to attack his friends and just as he was about to fire, Nezuko put her hand in front and Tanjiro dodges her attack but still hits Nezuko's arm leaving her badly injured, Giyu realizes that Tanjiro diverted the attack so as not to hit Nezuko and even though Nezuko is bleeding he doesn't attack her, Giyu then deduces that Tanjiro was still alive and was fighting against Muzan's will, in this moment, Kanao Tsuyuri takes a medicine that turns Demons back into Humans (Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho gave this medicine to Kanao before the War started) and decides to sacrifice her remaining eye using the final form of Flower Breath (which leaves his vision is improved but it slowly blinds whoever uses this technique, Kanao had already used the technique before and lost one of his eyes) to try to apply the medicine to Tanjiro
In the original, Kanao manages to dodge most of Tanjiro's attacks and applies the medicine to Tanjiro's back, Kanao was still hit and falls to the ground, almost blind in both eyes (but was still alive), Tanjiro then stops his attacks, in mind of Tanjiro, Muzan's will tries to convince Tanjiro not to return and to continue being a Demon, since Tanjiro was now a perfect being and would not die in any way, but Tanjiro refuses and says that he would prefer to die as a human, Muzan says that it wasn't fair for Tanjiro to stay alive after everything he did, Tanjiro had attacked his friends and none of them would forgive him for that, besides, many died and it wasn't fair for Tanjiro to continue living, but Tanjiro doesn't believe in Muzan and said that his friends weren't like that, suddenly several arms of those who died appeared to take Tanjiro back, and then Tanjiro is taken back to reality with his Humanity restored and Muzan disappears from his mind finally being defeated forever, Tanjiro (the cure worked and is now human again) later wakes up surrounded by his friends happily welcoming him back
In the Bad Ending, Kanao's eye ends up failing (due to the fact that she used the last Flower Breath Form before) and that's why she is hit and killed by Tanjiro, Kanao falls dead on the ground and the medicine that makes the Demons come back the Human being ends up breaking when he falls, everyone is horrified by that scene, Giyu and Nezuko run towards Tanjiro to try to get him back to normal, until suddenly.....Tanjiro simply stopped moving, in Tanjiro's mind the influence of Muzan tries to convince Tanjiro to stay as a Demon, due to the fact that he did not receive the cure, Tanjiro ends up giving in to Muzan's will and his humanity disappears, Demon King Tanjiro then receives the memories, wills, motivations and desires of Muzan Kibutsuji, Demon King Tanjiro no longer had Humanity and to prove this, he will kill all the Hunters but first he decides to restore his power and to do this, Demon King Tanjiro then gets rid of the Anti-Kibutsuji Drug that was in the blood he received from Muzan ( before the war, Tamayo, a Demon who escaped from Muzan's control had set a trap to weaken Muzan, injecting Muzan's blood with a poison that caused Muzan to age Ten Thousand Years, weaken over time and impede Muzan's escape abilities), After regaining his power, Demon King Tanjiro starts laughing madly and then fulfills Muzan Kibutsuji's dream, Demon King Tanjiro simply kills all the Demon Slayers in a violent and brutal way using his tentacles, leaving only Nezuko alive, Demon King Tanjiro says to his sister that he will be quick and that she will die without feeling pain, Nezuko crying a lot apologizes for not being able to save Tanjiro, Demon King Tanjiro even thinks about transforming Nezuko into a Demon again, but using his "Transparent World" technique Demon King Tanjiro realizes that Nezuko created a resistance and immunity to her demonic Blood (due to the fact that she returned to being human), so Demon King Tanjiro kills Nezuko in a brutal way and thus he turns Muzan Kibutsuji's dream into reality, the Demon Slayers were completely exterminated by the new Demon King and then Demon King Tanjiro starts laughing maniacally at his victory
How and why he would join Bad End Friends[]
Demon King Tanjiro then realizes that he had already achieved Muzan Kibutsuji's dreams and goals (becoming an immortal/Perfect being and destroying the Demon Slayers) and decides to do something different, Demon King Tanjiro goes after becoming the most powerful being in the World and so Demon King Tanjiro creates a sword made from his own Flesh and uses a Sun Breathing technique (the strongest Breath of all), Demon King Tanjiro is fascinated by his increase in power but that wasn't enough for him and so decides to use Sun Breathing together with his Blood techniques (Kekkijutsu) to destroy the entire World, destroying cities and countries as if they were nothing, Demon King Tanjiro was a Perfect and Immortal being with no weaknesses, in five months Demon King Tanjiro killed and devoured the entire Human Race to increase his power even further (Demons don't get tired and thanks to his infinite stamina Demon King Tanjiro destroyed cities and countries without resting), and thus Demon King Tanjiro further evolved his Breathing techniques, strengths and Demon powers, Demon King Tanjiro is incredibly happy because he is now the most powerful being in the world, while wandering through a city he destroyed, Demon King Tanjiro sees a portal opening and out come Bipper, Darcy and Evil Morty, Demon King Tanjiro without even thinking twice attacks the three with his Energy Sphere, Bipper defends the attack and returns it towards Demon King Tanjiro who loses his left arm but instantly he regenerates (as if he had never been hit), then Demon King Tanjiro creates a flesh sword and uses Breath of the Sun to attack Darcy but Bipper stops the attack and throws Demon King Tanjiro away, Darcy and Evil Morty are impressed with Demon King Tanjiro's skills and suggest that Bipper invite him to the BEF, Bipper would not miss the chance to recruit someone so powerful and then invites Demon King Tanjiro to the BEF, but Demon King Tanjiro refuses, saying that he was a perfect being and that he would not take orders from anyone and so attacks Bipper again , Bipper laughing a lot says that Demon King Tanjiro was nowhere near his power and then hits an energy attack on Demon King Tanjiro thus destroying his entire upper part (but Demon King Tanjiro regenerates instantly), Demon King Tanjiro is left fighting for an hour against Bipper, but Demon King Tanjiro is unable to land any attack on Bipper, Demon King Tanjiro is happy and excited to have found such a powerful opponent, Demon King Tanjiro is fascinated by the power that Bipper possesses and decides to join the BEF in search of more power and to try to surpass Bipper, and then Demon King Tanjiro reconsiders the request and agrees to join the BEF

Demon King Tanjiro has eyes with slit pupils, fangs and flame-shaped markings over his left forehead and right jaw, he also has a third, smaller flame-shaped marking running down the right side of his head to his eyebrow, his scar turns into a a pattern of flames as if it were a permanent Demon Slayer mark and has become longer and is the largest of the three marks, Demon King Tanjiro still wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform, a dark brown gakuran jacket, a white belt, pants wide chocho zubon that extend to tabi socks, a pair of zōri with red straps and tightly wrapped white cloth bands, around his calves resembling kyahan, but his uniform is now stained with blood and has a sleeve torn off where his arm was severed earlier during the fight against Muzan, Demon King Tanjiro still wears his Hanafuda earrings
Personality[]
Tanjiro was very kind by nature and was described by others as having very kind eyes and a compassionate personality and he showed a lot of determination and did not give up when he had a goal to achieve, after he became a Demon, Demon King Tanjiro at the beginning of his transformation into Demon acted like an uncontrolled and angry animal that attacked anyone (except Nezuko) who was in front of him but after losing his humanity and regaining his consciousness, he becomes a madman who tries his best to fulfill Muzan Kibutsuji's dreams and after doing so (a perfect being will come and exterminate the Demon Slayers), Demon King Tanjiro seeks to have more power and be the most powerful and to achieve this he then destroys and devours the Human Race, showing how violent and sadistic he has become after becoming the new Demon King, Demon King Tanjiro received Muzan's memories and therefore has all the knowledge and experience from Muzan's battles, which means he has over a millennium of knowledge and experience (and this shows that Demon King Tanjiro is extremely intelligent, a Genius both in knowledge and in battles), Demon King Tanjiro, unlike Muzan, is not a coward and has no weaknesses, due to the fact that he is immortal and the strongest creature in the entire world, and therefore only wants to face someone of your level and feel the pleasure of becoming more and more powerful by devouring your enemy or humans and thus remain a Perfect Being, but will be disappointed if your enemy is not powerful enough to amuse him, Demon King Tanjiro doesn't care with practically nothing (except becoming stronger and stronger), but he loves to make his enemies die a slow, brutal and painful death (making him very happy), Demon King Tanjiro is crazy and sadistic to fight and evolve more and more his strength, after all, he is a Perfect Being and will remain so for all eternity

Sun Breathing[]
This is the most powerful breath that Tanjiro has, and therefore, it is his main form of combat. This Breath has thirteen powerful techniques:

•SECOND FORM: HEKI-RA NO TEN (Consists of a rotating movement of the body so that the sword covers the user's entire surroundings)
